Don T Be Afraid Of Going To The Dentist

Don t be Afraid of Going to the Dentist

by

Jenna Schrock

Going to the dentist is a fear most people have. Recent estimates have put 75% of the US population as suffering from varying degrees of fear of going to the dentist. A small percentage of these suffer from dental phobia, which means they avoid going to the dentist as much as possible, sometimes even for emergencies like surgeries and infections. Fortunately, dental phobia is treatable, and there are several ways to overcome your fear of going to the dentist.

Most cases of dental fear stem from people s direct experiences. Patients may have undergone a painful procedure, or perhaps the dentist was unfriendly and detached from the patient. On the other hand, people who found it easy to trust and interact with their dentists did not develop dental phobia even after going through the most fearful dental procedure.

Still others may have developed their fear of the dentist from indirect causes. For example, dentists are sometimes portrayed in the same negative light as mad doctors in popular culture. People may have also heard bad feedback from friends or relatives about a negative experience with a dentist, leading to the generalization that all dentists are bad.

To combat this fear, any reliable

dentist Los Angeles

clinics have on board may implement a variety of techniques to help the patient overcome his fear. For example, behavioral techniques such as breathing exercises, muscle relaxation therapy, as well as various psychological techniques have been known to be highly effective in helping patients over time to overcome their fear via mind control.

Another popular method that a

dentist Los Angeles

families trust may use is sedation dentistry. This involves the use of oral or intravenous sedatives, with effects ranging from mild to full sedation which renders the patient fully unconscious during a dental procedure. Sedatives are also administered through gas masks, which quickly help patients to relax.

Whatever concerns a patient may have, the best thing a

dentist Los Angeles

patients trust can do is to be friendly and warm. A good dentist is not only someone who is highly competent but also takes time to relate to patients on a personal and professional level. Pain or discomfort may be inevitable in almost any procedure, but having a dentist you can rely on certainly can help you face your fears.

Iranian International Master Dorsa Derakhshani discusses her chess career with Wikinews

Tuesday, April 14, 2020

In February 2017, the Iranian Chess Federation announced two teenage chess players, Dorsa Derakhshani and her younger brother Borna Derakhshani, were banned from representing the national team. The federation announced their decision although Dorsa Derakhshani had previously decided and informed the chess federation she did not wish to play for Iran.

Dorsa Derakhshani is currently 21 years old and holds the International Master (IM) as well as Woman Grand Master (WGM) titles. Her brother, Borna, plays for the English Federation and holds the FIDE Master title.

Dorsa Derakhshani was banned since she did not wear a hijab, an Islamic headscarf, while competing at the Tradewise Gibraltar Chess Festival in January 2017. Under the laws of Islamic Republic of Iran, hijab is a mandatory dress code. Her brother Borna Deraskhsani was banned for playing against Israeli Grand Master (GM) Alexander Huzman at the same tournament. Iran does not recognise the existence of Israel, and previously, Irani athletes have avoided playing against Israeli athletes.

Mehrdad Pahlavanzadeh, the president of the country’s chess federation, explained the decision to ban the players saying, “As a first step, these two will be denied entry to all tournaments taking place in Iran and in the name of Iran, they will no longer be allowed the opportunity to be present on the national team.” ((fa))Farsi language: ?????? ????? ?? ??? ??? ?? ??? ????? ?? ?? ???? ???????? ?? ?? ????? ? ?? ??? ????? ?????? ??????? ????? ??????? ? ???? ???? ???? ?? ??? ??? ?? ??????? ????. He further stated, “Unfortunately, something that should not have happened has happened and our national interest is paramount and we have reported this position to the Ministry of Sports.” ((fa))Farsi language: ????????? ?????? ?? ????? ????????? ?????? ??? ? ????? ??? ?? ?? ?? ???? ?????? ???? ? ?? ??? ???? ?? ?? ????? ???? ?? ????? ?????.

IM Dorsa Derakhshani, who currently studies at Saint Louis University in the United States and plays for the United States Chess Federation, discussed her chess career, time in Iran and the 2017 controversy, and her life in Saint Louis with a Wikinews correspondent.

Modern radio drama Paranoria, TX releases 100th episode

Thursday, February 16, 2017

Paranoria, TX, a modern radio drama hosted at internet-based AstroNet Radio, released its 100th episode. The episode is titled The People’s Choice and aired on Monday.

The station’s web site describes the show as “old school radio theater with a new and outrageous geeky spin!” In its early days, the show was featured solely at the long-running internet radio site TogiNet Radio, a site focused on talk radio. In late 2015, TogiNet established AstroNet Radio as a subsidiary station. The show originally featured amateur voice actors, local to East Texas. After some time, professional actors/talent came to be featured intermittently. Some of those were

 • Kevin Betzer from television series Deep South Paranormal.
 • Clu Gulager notably from The Virginian and The Fall Guy.
 • John Gulager notably as director of Piranha 3DD.
 • Diane Ayala Goldner notably from horror film franchise Feast.
 • Vernon Wells notably from the films Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior and Weird Science.

Wikinews caught up with the show’s producer, George Jones, to discuss the show.

((WN)) First, tell our readers about Paranoria, Texas.

George Jones: Paranoria, TX started out as a little show that could. We really didn’t know what we were doing but we wanted to do Old School radio in a brand new format which consisted of a new script every week with a cast of voice actors. The result was a surprising hit and now the show has grown into something completely different than what it was in the beginning and we have followers worldwide. The basic premise of the story is that there is a group of nerds who come together plotting to take over the world but end up saving it time and again.

((WN)) When did the idea for the show first come to you?

GJ: I was called into the [TogiNet] studio for an interview about one of my events and while I was there the DJ asked me if I had ever thought about doing a radio show myself. I had no idea what I was going to do but I was intrigued and after a little brainstorming and utilizing my own creativity the show was born.

((WN)) You’ve written most of the scripts, right? Has anyone else helped you with writing?

GJ: I have written 90% of the scripts for the show. Eric Nivens, Alan Mendez, Jeremy Nagel and Matt McBride have also written a few scripts. It gets tough running a brand new 20-page script every week but somehow we’ve managed for almost a hundred weeks. We thank God for fans who keep us going, otherwise it would not have made it for so long.

Jones estimates since the first episode, the show has been downloaded roughly 30,000 times. The show is set to feature a spin-off series soon.

SpaceX Falcon I rocket fails to orbit test satellite

Wednesday, March 21, 2007

The SpaceX Falcon 1 rocket has failed to place a DARPA demonstration payload into orbit, on its first flight into space. The rocket launched from Omelek Island, at 01:10 GMT on 21 March, just less than a year after its maiden flight which failed just seconds after launch.

The rocket, which is the first privately-funded liquid-fueled launch vehicle, was intended to place the payload into a low-Earth orbit, but all contact with the rocket was lost just over five minutes into the flight.

The first stage burn proceeded nominally, and separation occurred on schedule. As the first stage fell away from the second, it was observed to have impacted on the engine bell of the second stage. About five minutes into the flight, the second stage began to roll out of control. All data was lost at T+5 minutes, 5 seconds.

Single Trip Holiday Insurance For Travelling Abroad

You know overseas travelling is not the same as national travelling if you have ever been to a foreign country. There are many careful preparations going in to planning while preparing for an overseas trip. From legal requirements of passport and visa, safety requirements such as travel insurance cover and health checkups and management of luggage and time, it is an absolutely different ball game. Frequent travellers must be well-versed with all types of preparations that travelling abroad requires but those who travel once or twice in a year may find it difficult to plan for a trouble-free trip. While every other thing depends upon your destination, duration of stay, your budget and preferences, one thing that is equally required by every traveller is travel insurance. Annual travel cover is advisable for frequent travellers whereas single trip holiday insurance is for those who travel less frequently. With an adequate cover, you can prepare yourself for a great travelling experience. Besides this, there are several other important things that you must keep in mind. Read further to know about them if overseas journey is in your future.

Passport and Visa Application

As soon as you decide to travel internationally, you need to get a passport and then apply for a visa. Once you fill up a form to apply for a passport, it usually takes 15-30 days to reach you. However, if you pay for expedited delivery, chances are that you could get it sooner. In case you already have a passport, check out its validity. Apply for a new one if it is soon going to expire. Once all passport formalities are done and you have received it, see if you require a visa for the destination you are travelling to. While applying for a visa, most countries have a pre-entry condition of having travel insurance along with medical cover. You will have to get a single holiday insurance plan to get the visa formalities done.

Make a List of What You Need

Keep all the essentials such as daywear, nightwear, toiletries, medicines, first aid kit, ready-to-eat snacks and other things that you think you would be requiring during your trip. Do not forget to keep you single trip travel insurance policy papers in your bag. You should also save the policy number and emergency phone number in your hand phone for convenience. With little planning, you can make you overseas travelling in a pleasant experience.

President Bush to limit congressional oversight in PATRIOT amendment act

Sunday, April 2, 2006

President Bush signed the “USA PATRIOT Act Additional Reauthorizing Amendments Act of 2006” into law. In the signing statement, Bush averred that he could withhold information about the administration’s controversial use of Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act powers and National Security Letters if he deemed that they impaired foreign relations, national security, the deliberative processes of the Executive, or the performance of the Executive’s constitutional duties. Lawmakers and Legal experts have questioned the president’s authority to contravene the Congress’s intent in such a way.

The Patriot Act reauthorisation bill specifically mandates the Inspector General of the Department of Justice to audit the administration’s use of investigative authority granted by the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act and National Security Letters and requires these audits to be submitted for congressional review.

In the signing statement, President Bush wrote “The executive branch shall construe the provisions of H.R. 3199 that call for furnishing information to entities outside the executive branch, such as sections 106A and 119, in a manner consistent with the President’s constitutional authority to supervise the unitary executive branch and to withhold information the disclosure of which could impair foreign relations, national security, the deliberative processes of the Executive, or the performance of the Executive’s constitutional duties.”

This follows on the heels of the signing of the congressional ban on torture issued in January of this year, when the President declared that he would view the interrogation limits in the context of his broader powers to protect national security. A senior white house official told a Boston Globe reporter that “Of course the president has the obligation to follow this law, [but] he also has the obligation to defend and protect the country as the commander in chief, and he will have to square those two responsibilities in each case.” The official added “We are not expecting that those two responsibilities will come into conflict, but it’s possible that they will.”

Lawmakers tried to get a handle on President Bush’s use of signing statements in 2003, by passing a Justice Department spending bill that required the department to inform Congress whenever the administration decided to ignore a legislative provision on constitutional grounds.

Bush signed the bill, but issued a statement asserting his right to ignore the notification requirement.

US dog attack owner charged with involuntary manslaughter

Friday, March 25, 2005A Spotsylvania County woman, whose three dogs allegedly attacked and killed her elderly neighbor, was freed Wednesday by posting a $10,000 bond. Dianna Large, 36, received one felony charge of involuntary manslaughter and three misdemeanor charges in an indictment issued last week.

In her first appearance before a judge, she answered Circuit Court Judge William H. Ledbetter questions with simple “Yes sir.” and “No sir.” responses. The short hearing, held Thursday, formalized the charges against her. The involuntary manslaughter charge, a first in the severity of punishment being sought on a dog owner in the Virginan state of USA, carries a maximum penalty of 10 years.

State procecutor Wiliam Neely said that Large knowingly let her three Pit Bull dogs run free, and that an animal control agency person had warned her to keep them under better control. She also a violated a county ordinance requiring owners of dangerous dogs to post a warning sign to visitors. The prosecution also noted that none of the three male dogs were neutered.

The Animal Control Department of Virginia maintains a dangerous dog registry. It contains a list of owners whose dogs are deemed dangerous to society. The link to the registry was moved to a more prominent position on the county web page following the attack.

Australia men’s national wheelchair basketball team beat Japan 80-49 in final game of pool play

Saturday, July 21, 2012

Homebush Bay, New South Wales —Last night, the Australia men’s national wheelchair basketball team beat Japan 80–49 in their final game of pool play at the Rollers & Gliders World Challenge taking place at at the Sport Centre at the Sydney Olympic Park and are through to the first place match.

The contrast between the two teams was seen in their wheels: almost every Australian player had a four wheeled chair that gave them increased stability while every single Japanese player had three wheels, which gave them great maneuverability. Japan played the aggressor throughout the match, with several players aggressively blocking with wheelchair on wheelchair contact. Both sides were loud, chanting defense, defense, defense when their side was on that side of the court.

The first quarter was closely fought, with Japan racking up 5 by 5:54 left in the first. They successfully took a lead of 17–16 by the end of the first quarter. They were unable to hold the lead, with Australia holding a 40–24 lead at the end of the first half. Australia’s lead at the end of the third was 61–34. While Japan increased their total points in the fourth quarter, they failed to defend against Australia who continued to answer back basket for basket for the game to end 80–49.

Australia plays in the first place match later today. Their London Paralympic campaign starts on August 30 against South Africa.

Heres The True Story Of A Million Dollar Producer

By Lew Nason

During the past 26 years my son Jeremy and I have had the distinct pleasure of helping hundreds of insurance agents, financial advisors and financial planners to go to the very, very top of the industry in life insurance and annuity sales. What follows is the recent success story of one of those people. Phil Calandra came 3 years ago to us after first attending the Missed Fortune TEAM Training, because he was struggling to make their system work. Here is his story, as he tells it

How Do You Earn Half-a-Million Dollars During Your First Year as a Financial Advisor?

By Phil Calandra, RFC

Hardly a week goes by without another financial planner, financial advisor or insurance agent asking me how I made half-a-million dollars during my first year of practice. Or, theyll ask how I earned close to a million dollars during my second year of work helping clients. I am going to tell you my true story. But, for me, the important story is how many people I have helped, not how much money I have made. It is all about how I helped my valued clients to earn more, achieve more, and advance toward their financial goals and objectives. That is the big picture and that is my priority. Assisting clients in resolving their money concerns that is what financial planning is all about for me.

Countless numbers of people have also asked me how I made MDRT during my first eight months in the life and annuity arena. Or, they ask how I made MDRT Top of the Table during my first full-year in the business. I am going to tell you what I did, plus what I didnt do, to achieve such a high level of success, so quickly. If you are serious about having a similar rewarding career as an advisor, then I urge you to get more serious with what you are doing.

When I decided to leave the corporate world in 2005, I departed a fat six-figure position with lots of perks and status. I wanted to help others in a very meaningful way. I wanted more servant leadership in my life. I did not want to push products and services onto trusting people. I no longer wanted to serve an ultimate objective that dictated: How much more can we get out of this customer?

For my lifes work I needed something far more different, something more satisfying, where I could be of real positive benefit and enjoy lasting personal relationships. Money was not the deciding factor for me. My successful experience was in corporate finance. I worked with many of the Fortune 500 companies in the USA. I traveled extensively and interacted with CEO types and top executives. But, I found myself longing for kitchen table type meetings where my skills could help real people. Middle class American citizens are largely ignored or exploited by our corporations, institutions, and organizations of all types. Our average American citizen is even exploited by our city, county, state and federal governments. Yet, they are the most important element of our society. They play by the rules but only keep getting shafted more-and-more. They and their children deserve much better treatment. I wanted to serve them, truly help them, and assist them in protecting the financial worth and improving their financial futures.

Later, when I became a financial advisor I did not target the super wealthy. And I never expected to make so much money from work that I dearly love. Every morning I rush to the office, happy, and eager for another good day of meeting wonderful people (both clients and prospects). My real sense of satisfaction comes when the client is pleased and sees the results they need.

I Invested In Myself

From the beginning, the one thing I knew I would have to do is invest in myself. The school of hard knocks would take too long to create and replace my existing lifestyle and income. So, I started seeking out training from the very best in the industry. I easily spent $15,000 on coaching and training materials in my first year. I went to Missed Fortune TEAM training (before I even had a license), the MoneyTrax Mentoring Program, and I purchased every life insurance and annuity marketing and sales program developed by Lew and Jeremy Nason at the Insurance Pro Shop. Lew Nason became one of my first real coaches, my mentor and a dear friend.

What Lew stressed is you must learn two things to be successful. 1. You are in the marketing business. 2. You are in the financial advice business, in that order. If you dont have the right people to see, you cant make it. Marketing is the key to always being in front of the right prospects.

And, if you want to make the kind of money that less than 1% of the advisors make, then you have to do what most arent doing. What many advisors are not doing is Doing what is right. If you put the client first and take care of solving their issues and concerns, your success will follow.

The most important task we all have, both in our business and personal lives, is to build true relationships. What is a true relationship? Well, it can be described in a number of ways. I believe it is a connection between two people that is sincere, uplifting, joyful, and continuously strengthened by trust and empathy. To build true relationships you must work at this connection and live by the premise: It is better to give, than to receive.

In our business, people buy from people they like and trust. You must understand the importance, right now, of expressing and giving of yourself to other people. Whether it is in your business life or your personal life, the customer or person you are trying to build a true relationship with, has to feel appreciated and loved. It is simply the Law of Attraction. When you give out, you will get back, eventually. Coach Lew told me early on: People dont care how much you know, until they know how much you care.

Prior to joining the ranks of the self-employed, I was a student of the great motivators and an avid reader of success literature. That universal law and truth has been taught for centuries. I remember my coaching calls with Lew recounting the great Napoleon Hill: What man can conceive and believe, he can achieve. What have you read lately? It is important to feed your mind and build your skills, so you are sharp for every opportunity to help your prospective client. And, as the legendary speaker and author Charlie Tremendous Jones puts it; You are the same today as you will be in five years except for two things: the people you meet and the books you read.

When I started I did not have a Project 100, I did not call my family, friends and acquaintances. I did not pitch one single corporate manager or executive that I had been in boardrooms with previously. I knew my strengths and weaknesses. I was an accomplished presenter and public speaker. The dinner seminar was my natural marketing method. Now, I was fortunate to have enough start-up capital to jump right into the business this way. However, you CAN do it without a bankroll or rich spouse, if you learn how to properly use Joint Ventures, Free Educational Workshops, Free Reports and other proven marketing methods to consistently attract the right prospects to you. If you want to reach the top, use your resources wisely and get going Start small, be consistent, and never quit.

I was told by Mr. Calmen Mendel, one of the all time great Northwestern Mutual agents, This is the poorest paying easy work I would ever do. It is tough, but the people in your community, no matter what niche you plan on serving, need you. The financial well being of our country is in a fragile state. We are in a recession proof industry and people need real solutions. Identify the niche you want to serve and become an expert at marketing and consulting to that group. The dinner seminar was key to me getting off to a fast start. I used every seminar mail company out there. The folks at Response Mail Express (Jennifer Lowery) and Seminar Crowds (Clyde Cleveland and Susie Zolo) taught my assistant and I the basics. We then made every mistake possible. But we stayed with it. I have now created multiple seminar presentations, and my assistant Jennifer will tell you, I am changing things constantly.

Once again, I learned everything I could from the top producers. Take the time and invest in yourself. Some of the best in our business are: Don Blanton, Karlan Tucker, Craig Randall, and Lew Nason. Listen and learn from them and then fit things to your persona.

Are you sending out client newsletters? Do you have a complete follow-up system for every aspect of your practice? Are you sending out greeting cards, birthday and anniversary cards? Do you have an assistant and staff to strengthen your capabilities? These are all things I learned and figured out from day one that you must do. You must pay attention to detail and give your very best to your clients, prospects and community. Take the time to train and develop yourself and the staff around you.

In future articles, I will share with you specific things to do immediately. They are the activities and things I did and still do, that have taken me to the top of the industry.

Phil Calandra, RFC is President of Pinnacle Financial Services in Kennesaw (An Atlanta suburb), Georgia. He has been recognized by the International Association of Registered Financial Consultants, as ” One of our industry’s best and brightest. Calandra makes us all proud!”

Is there any question that Phil Calandra exemplifies the very best in our industry? Its a pleasure to help someone who is so dedicated to helping others.

Sixteen-year-old boy charged with murder over use of Playstation in Chile

Thursday, April 29, 2010

A sixteen-year-old boy from Santiago, Chile has been charged with the murder of his brother after the pair got in a fight over whose turn it was to use a PlayStation 3. Police reported that the sixteen-year-old had stabbed his eighteen-year-old brother after he turned the PlayStation on without his younger brother’s permission.

It’s reported that the younger brother entered the kitchen and took a knife; he then stabbed his brother in the chest. Chile police reported that the youth said that “things had got out of control”. If convicted, the boy would stay five years in prison.

At the time of the death there was no one else in the building. The boy’s birth mother had abandoned them ten years ago and they had been adopted by a Belgian woman. At the time of the attack, she was visiting her home country.
